A Visit From The Police

One of the parents at our Eynsham setting has a career in the police force. He very kindly offered to bring a police vehicle to nursery for the children to see and there was a great deal of excitement.

When the police officer, Simon, arrived, he showed the children the different items that are carried on them as part of their equipment, explaining each one to the children. They had a go at trying on the handcuffs, some of the teachers had a go also.

He spoke about what the police help with and asked the children what they think Police officers do. We then went to see the police car which all the children had a chance to sit in and try on the police hat.

Then we had a chance to listen to the sirens and see the blue lights. We even set up our own crime scene using cones and the blue police tape. When asked about the number we would need to call in an emergency some of the children knew it was 999.

The children were all given, a sticker, balloon, pencil, bookmark and some bells as a little gift. Thank you so much Simon. We certainly enjoyed our experience.
