There’s A Real Life Fire Engine In The Car Park

This week our Farmoor Setting was filled with excitement waiting for their visit from a fire engine. The crew came from Rawley Road in Oxford to give the children the chance to get up close to an actual fire engine.

There were so many different things for us to look at and explore from the water rescue kit they use, which has come in handy recently, to the hydraulic rescue tools and the fire uniform.

Our middle aged children visited the fire engine first and were enthralled. There were ladders and hose reels to see but the highlight of the visit were the magic cones, that popped up and down.

We were able to get into the rear seats of the fire engine with one of the children sitting down and exclaiming “Ok, clip in now. Bye, see you”. Perhaps a mini firefighter in the making there?

Lucy announced that, when she grew up, she wanted to be a fire engine, which may not be entirely possible, but she did get to try out the fire fighters uniform.

Our oldest children were excited to see the hydraulic rescue tools in action when Chris used them to cut through a tree branch!

To round off a very exciting visit all the children had the chance to spray the hose at Alison’s car in the car park. Debbie and Shannon were also very excited to have a turn.

Thank you to Chris, Alan, Henry and Peter for taking the time to visit us. We all had a very memorable experience.
