Daffodil Creativity

We love creativity of all kinds at Willow Cottage. The children at Farmoor celebrated the start of spring with a vase full of daffodils.

The practitioners provided, water, paintbrushes, paints and paper and let the children see where their imagination took them.

We saw children becoming deeply engrossed, some discussing the details and development of their creation as their vision emerged. The addition of people and faces to their daffodils is an extension of their imagination. Others were happy to explore independently focussing on exploring the different ways that they could create marks using their brush, fingers or other tools available.

Through the photos you can see the evolution of the paint colours in their own sections of the trays to them ending as one colour in all the trays as the children explore colour mixing.

Not all children took a picture home, because creativity can be a messy, unpredictable, surprising exploration and fulfilling expression in which the journey is more valuable than the end result.
