Messy Mud Slide Fun

In case you haven’t noticed, there’s been just a little bit of rain recently. Farmoor Forest School used the rainy weather to their advantage as they created a mud slide and paddling puddle down in The Orchard.

Nicola – Forest School Leader at Farmoor, says:
Over the past 3 weeks, the Forest School children have shown a huge interest in mud and muddy puddles. Each session we have extended this interest with a variety of different activities and have seen children stand back and observe, laughing and wanting to get involved. By creating our mud slide it allowed the children to assess the risk in a safe environment.

Each and every child got involved in some way, from sitting on the staff laps to slide down, to jumping in the mud. They all came away excited and proud of themselves which was amazing to see.

What fun was had slipping, sliding, jumping, leaping, splashing and pushing the teachers down the slide. A great way to strengthen our muscles and practise our gross motor skills.

As a team we are so proud to have seen such confidence come out in the children, especially those who are more naturally cautious. A fantastic achievement.
