Willow Wildlife Week 27th – 30th August 2019

For our final fundraiser for the Willow Cottage Chosen Charities 2018-19 Bletchingdon created a Willow Wildlife Week.

Based on the National Trust’s ‘50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾’, the teams were challenged to see who could achieve the most activities during the week.

We had a vast array of activities, wholly embraced by the clever, curious and resilient children. There are hundreds of photos which have been and will be available on the digiframes in each of the departments. Some of the activities were:

  • A wintery walk with shredded paper and fans to make a wintery snowstorm.
  • A wildlife walk to Bletchingdon Primary School
  • Playing Pooh Sticks
  • Sleeping outside under the tarpaulin
  • Clambering over rocks
  • Having a picnic in the field
  • Making campfires and pretending to cook over them.
  • Having a snail race
  • Getting to know our trees by naming and hugging them
  • Being archaeologists and making and digging for dinosaur bones
  • Safely finding some funky fungi
  • Guessing how many pasta shapes were in the cup to win some wildflower seeds

All of Bletchingdon’s fabulous teams put so much thought and effort into the week and we have all made so many memories. There have been some wonderful experiences and of course we have all had lots of fun in the process!
