Bletchingdon Nursery School

Dating back to 1870, this picturesque Victorian school is built from natural local stone and offers a truly idyllic setting. The nursery boasts around two acres of outstanding south-facing grounds, complete with exceptional outdoor classrooms and adventure areas. These dynamic play spaces overlook open natural surroundings, giving the children wonderful views of the animals and working tractors on the adjacent farmland.

Departments

The inside space is split into three areas: Cubs, Badgers, and Foxes. The very youngest children will join our Cubs in the school building, where they can find their feet, become familiar with their key carer, and gain confidence in nursery life.

From here, between 18 months and two years, the children will move into Badgers in the adjacent rooms of the building. Here, they become more independent and confident to explore beyond their key carers.

When the children are between two-and-a-half and three years old, they will make the transition to Foxes, which is located behind the old school in its own building with outdoor classrooms. This is where they will continue their learning journey before going on to school, exploring new experiences and concepts whilst also embedding the skills and dispositions that promote a lifelong love of curiosity and learning.

All three spaces have direct access to their own garden space, enabling the children to free-flow between inside and out for large parts of the day. Additionally, they share a large field, allowing the children more opportunities to explore and interact with a wider group of peers and adults.

You can find the nursery near Bletchingdon’s village green The spacious nursery premises are located between Kidlington and Bicester. There is easy access from Woodstock via the A4095, or from the A34 (taking the B4027 Islip/Bletchingdon turn) towards the J9 M40.
